Julie Pierce

Julie Pierce is the face of Henderson Engineers for Kansas City, acting on Henderson’s behalf to serve in numerous capacities including design and construction, community outreach, and education. Her core responsibilities as the Director of Kansas City Operations include management (P&L) of the office including an engineering design team and architectural lighting design group. As a practice leader in sports & recreation, higher education, and corporate practices, she helps lead national efforts in tracking, teaching, and selling these services. With over 20 years of experience, Julie is a highly motivated leader with a passion in helping others grow and succeed. She exhausts all avenues to help her local community, thrives to empower women leaders and has served numerous organizations in a variety of capacities over the years. In 2014, she helped found Empow[HER], Henderson’s women’s network and currently serves on the Board of Directors, overseeing the Community Outreach Pillar. She is an avid supporter of downtown Kansas City, currently serving as Vice Chair and Chair of the Business Retention & Attraction Committee for Downtown Council of Kansas City (DTC), AIA-KC Board of Directors and Education Committee, and Executive Women’s Leadership Council (EWLC). A 1994 graduate of University of Kansas with a BS in Architectural Engineering and having served on the Advisory Board for Architectural Engineering at the KU since inception 23 years ago, Julie was recently inducted into the schools’ Civil, Environmental & Architectural Engineering Academy. Professionally, Julie is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), United States Green Building Council (USGBC), National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA), and Women Leaders in Collegiate Sports. Julie was recently selected for the Kansas City Business Journal’s “Women Who Mean Business” class of 2018.
