We recommend that you register as soon as possible to secure your place. Early registration helps us order the proper amount of materials and food. The discounted early registration fee is available until October 26, 2018.

  • If you are unable to attend the conference you may send a substitute at no additional charge.
  • A full refund of registration fees for attendees, less a $50 administrative fee, will be available if requested in writing to CEAEConf@ku.edu11 by November 1, 2018.

KU CEAE reserves the right to cancel the 50th Annual Geotechnical Conference and return all fees in the event of insufficient registration. The liability of the University of Kansas is limited to the registration fee. The University of Kansas will not be responsible for any losses incurred by registrants, including but not limited to airline cancellation charges or hotel deposits.
The University of Kansas Memorial Union is located on the KU Lawrence campus, 1301 Jayhawk Blvd., Lawrence, KS 66045. The event will take place on Level 5 of the Union in the Woodruff Auditorium. If you enter from the parking garage, go across the skywalk on the fourth floor of the garage. This will take you to Level 2 of the Union. Stairs and elevator are located in the corridor.
Note: There have been parking changes at KU.
Access to central campus is restricted from 7:45 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday–Friday, while school is in session. Visitor parking is available in the Mississippi Street parking garage north of the Kansas Union, accessible from Mississippi Street and from Oread Avenue. Parking is also available on the street; however, you will need to allow time to walk. Avoid parking in lots that are KU designated lots, hotel or dorm parking, as ticketing or towing may result.

Attendees will now enter the parking garage and their license plates will be scanned as they enter. A parking kiosk is available. Payment will be made on the day of the conference, either by credit card or cash at the kiosk.

Conference Parking: Passes are no longer issued. Payment is made at the parking kiosk on the day of the conference.


Cash or Credit Card Self Parking: The charge to park in the garage is $1.75 for the first hour, and $1.50 for each additional hour, or any portion of an hour. Cash payment may be made at a machine located in the fourth level stairwell.

Registration and Continental Breakfast will be available at 7:30 a.m. on November 8. The conference begins at 8:30 a.m. in Woodruff Auditorium, Level 5 of the Kansas Memorial Union. Please allow adequate time for parking and to pick up your registration materials.
Information will be in your conference packet. Participants can earn a total of 6.5 Professional Development Hours for attending this conference. Students will not receive a certificate.
Continental breakfast, morning and afternoon breaks and lunch are included in the registration fee.
We will do our best to accommodate your request; however, it is dependent on the ability of the venue. Please call 785-864-3766 or mark the space on the registration form with restrictions, and a KU CEAE representative will contact you to discuss your needs. To ensure accommodation, please register at least two weeks before the start of the conference.

We anticipate more than 250 participants of diverse professional backgrounds, including:
  • Geotechnical, structural, hydraulic and highway engineers
  • Geologists, technicians and consulting engineers
  • Utility company and manufacturing facility employees
  • Students studying related subject matter
  • Exhibitors from industry-related organizations
A block of rooms has been reserved for conference attendees at the Hampton Inn Lawrence 2300 W 6th St, Lawrence, KS 66049. The special conference rate is $89 plus applicable state and local occupancy taxes.

Instructions for Internet access will be available in the printed program received at the conference.
Business casual, comfortable clothing is appropriate for the conference. Room temperatures can fluctuate so always bring a jacket or sweater—even in warm weather. Dressing in layers is best.
